How to Book Cheaper Breeze Airways Flights with This Simple Hack

If you’ve been following me for a while, you might remember when I used this trick last summer to book a Breeze Airways flight for less—but in case you missed it, let me share one of the best ways to save money on Breeze flights that most people don’t know about.

The Secret to Cheaper Breeze Airways Tickets

Most travelers book flights online, assuming they’re getting the best deal. But what if I told you there’s a way to avoid paying Breeze Airways' “Technology Development Charge” and get a lower price?

The secret is simple: book your ticket at the airport.

How It Works

Breeze Airways, one of the newest ultra-low-cost carriers in the U.S., adds a “Technology Development Charge” to all online bookings. While the airline claims this helps fund its digital platforms, it’s actually an optional fee—meaning there’s a way around it.

To skip this extra charge, you need to:

  • Go to a Breeze Airways ticket counter in person

  • Book on a Tuesday

  • Purchase your ticket between 11 AM and 1 PM Eastern Time

That’s it. By booking during this narrow two-hour window, you won’t have to pay the “Technology Development Charge,” instantly reducing your ticket cost.

Why Does Breeze Offer This Loophole?

It all comes down to taxes. Airlines are required to pay a 7.5 percent federal excise tax on airfare but not on optional fees. In order for Breeze to classify the “Technology Development Charge” as optional (and avoid taxes on it), they must provide a way for passengers to skip the fee—hence this limited-time airport booking option.

However, Breeze doesn’t exactly want everyone taking advantage of this, which is why they limit ticket counter purchases to just two hours a week.

Is It Worth the Extra Effort?

So, should you make a trip to the airport just to book your Breeze flight? It depends.

This trick is worth it if:

  • You’re booking multiple tickets, making the savings add up

  • You already have plans to be at the airport on a Tuesday

  • You want to reduce travel costs wherever possible

It may not be worth it if:

  • You’re only saving a small amount on a single ticket

  • The cost of gas and parking at the airport cancels out the savings

  • You prefer the convenience of online booking

Final Thoughts

While most people will still book online, knowing this trick can help you save money on Breeze flights, especially if you travel frequently or are booking for a group. Next time you’re considering a Breeze Airways flight, think about whether this airport booking hack could work for you.

Would you go to the airport just to save on airfare? Let me know in the comments.
